Situated on the steep slope of the NE bank of the NW-SE River Tay where it runs through a ravine, and just off the Bunmahon to Dungarvan road (R675) beside Carriganaffrin Bridge. The road and bridge have been built since the 1840 ed. of the OS 6-inch map, and the pinnacle of Carriganaffrin rises over the location to the E (H c, 20m). An area of rock outcrop (dims. c. 5m x c. 5m; max. H 4m) that may hve been quarried presents a number of straight facets. One of these on the N side (H c. 1m) may have been a mass-rock, and a commemorative Mass was celebrated here in August 2000. A fragment of a bullaun stone (WA024-122002-) is at the site.
