Our Lady of Knock
About This Feast
On August 21, 1879, fifteen people witnessed an apparition of Mary, St. Joseph, and St. John the Evangelist at the parish church in Knock, County Mayo.
Significance
Knock became Ireland's National Marian Shrine. The apparition came during difficult times of famine and emigration, offering hope to the Irish people.
