About This Feast

This memorial honors 17 Irish men and women who were martyred for their Catholic faith during the Reformation persecutions in the 16th and 17th centuries. They were beatified by Pope John Paul II in 1992.

Significance

These martyrs represent the thousands of Irish Catholics who suffered persecution, torture, and death rather than renounce their faith.
