BALLYOGAN High Cross
Killanin and Duignan (1967, 302) describe the church in Ballyogan as, ‘Páirc an Teampaill, alias the Chapel Field, site in turn of an early monastery (High Cross now at Graiguenamanagh) and a manorial church’, giving the location as half a mile W of Galmoy Castle, by the roadside. The church, though not indicated on any OS maps, is known locally to have been in a field on the E side of a by-road which runs roughly N-S between the R705 (runs between The Rower and Graiguenamanagh) and the River Barrow, c. 880m SSW of Galmoy Castle (KK029-021—-) and c. 330m W of the Barrow. The church is not visible at ground level. A high cross (KK029-038001-) was moved from this location and erected in the graveyard (see KK029-018012-) adjacent to the restored Cistercian abbey church (KK029-018001-) in Graiguenamanagh.
