Reference by O’Donovan c. 1837 (O’Flanagan 1931 vol. 1, 100; Herity 2010, 64) that a land surveyor named Connolly had seen the foundations of a round tower at the site of Assylin church (MO005-020001-). Located outside the SW wall of the graveyard (LH021-062002-). Isaac Butler recorded a holy well dedicated to a Saint Kiarnan outside the graveyard at SW in 1744 (Deane 1922, 106), which explains why this angle is excluded from the graveyard itself.
