Ó Danachair (1955, 206) recorded the following details about this holy well; ‘Toberreendoney “Lady’s Well” and “St Bridget’s Well” on 1840 map. “Three holy wells, not much frequented at present” OSNB. According to Jackson (1979-80, 158), the well had dried up by 1937. ‘Toberreendoney’ means the ‘Well of the King of Sunday’, and is named as Sunday’s Well by Fitzgerald (1896-99, 158).
